The Sea Rex of Kimmeridge!

On the back of the incredible BBC documentary ‘Attenborough and the Giant Sea Monster’ the Etches Collection at Kimmeridge are very excited to share their amazing Pliosaur skull discovery. Come see this amazing creature and learn more about how it lived, hunted, and died in the Jurassic seas of Kimmeridge 150 million years ago. The skull will be on display at the museum from January 2nd, 2024.

Scientifically this specimen will unlock a treasure trove of secrets for many years to come. Throughout the filming process the museum was fortunate to work with some of the most prestigious university palaeontology departments, utilising state-of-the-art technologies to reveal fascinating details about this ferocious predator, but there is still more work to be done to further study this once-in-a-lifetime find.
