May Bank Holiday 2025

Families invited to use thousands of blocks to build a replica of the castle ruins using LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®

The National Trust team at Corfe Castle invite families to join in a May Bank Holiday weekend full of medieval mayhem. Events will include a tent set up by a facilitator from the University of Exeter, trained in the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® approach to learning, to encourage visitors to use thousands of small play blocks to build a replica of the castle ruins.

There will also be a disco maypole with some groovy tunes, guided by Lorna Rees from Gobbledygook Theatre on Saturday 3 and Monday 5 May. Other music will be provided by around seventy local community members of the Dorchester and Bridport Rock Choirs at various times throughout Sunday 4 May.

Other activities in the castle grounds include garden games such as archery, quoits and welly wanging and a new family quest: Flight of the castle takes visitors around the castle ruins.

Visitors are asked to come dressed as their best medieval knight, princess, or peasant, or they can borrow outfits upon arrival.

Danielle Wootton, Senior Visitor Experience Officer at Corfe Castle said “Throughout history, early May has been a time to celebrate the coming of Summer. At the castle, we are continuing festivities to include music, dancing, and fun for all the family”
