Bring your antiques in for Max to value

Max Beaumont and his team of specialists will be on hand at Wareham Parish Hall to offer valuations between 10am – 12pm on Thursday 11th April and Thursday 16th May!

Max comments ‘This is a perfect opportunity to see what your antique treasures are really worth, whilst supporting a great cause’ ‘Jewellery, Silver, Ceramics, Paintings, Sculpture, Collectables and if you have an item of furniture, simply bring a photograph and the team can help – no appointment necessary!’

A recommended cash donation of £5 per item is advised with all final proceeds raised going to the Mayors chosen charity.

Who’s Max?

Specialising in antiques and fine art, as well as collectibles, Max Beaumont’s reputation has grown since he started in the antiques business at the tender age of 15 as an apprentice.

From Cottees to Dukes

In those early days John Condie at Cottees of Wareham taught a young and enthusiastic Max, passing on his knowledge, and allowing him to take his first auction at just 18 years old!

As the years went by, Max worked his way up the ranks, until he was working for one of the leading regional auction houses outside of London. He also became involved with several industry groups. In 2019, he was made a Patron of the Poole Pottery Collectors’ Club. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a member The Silver Society.

In 2020, he decided he was ready for a new challenge and despite the Covid 19 pandemic, he took the plunge to pursue his dreams of running his own business. It was from these dreams that Max Beaumont Fine Art & Consultancy was born.

His independent antiques and consultancy business based in Poole. His work takes him across the length and breadth of the country conducting valuations for a range of purposes including current market, insurance and probate, as well as advising clients on the sale of their collections, treasured family heirlooms or unwanted items.

Great Discoveries

He also provides a full house clearance service. Max comments “I have been delighted to make some great discoveries in my career so far and handle a wide variety of items. A memorable discovery was a pair of “Witch” mirrors by Parisienne designer and decorative artist Line Vautrin (1913-1997). The vendor purchased them as a wedding gift in a Parisian street market, unaware of their true value. After an intense auction battle between 5 telephone lines, they were sold to a French bidder for £30,000 (inc Buyers’ premium @ 25%).

I also went on to discover a historically important Poole Pottery vase, designed by John Adams and decorated in the “Bush Velt” pattern. The vase, which stood over 2ft high, is understood to be one of the largest pieces produced by the factory and achieved £9,750 (inc Buyers’ premium @ 25%) at auction”. Away from the world of antiques, Max enjoys travel, being bilingual with fluent Spanish.

He is also an active fundraiser for a number of charitable causes and is a proud father to three French bulldogs, two of which he rescued with his partner from a Hungarian puppy farm.
