A brilliant opportunity to see the great variety of winter birds at Poole Harbour!

Birds of Poole Harbour new Winter Safari Cruises start from Wednesday 8th November until 5th March 2024!
After a successful summer and autumn the Birds of Poole Harbour are looking forward to the winter birding scene. On the trip you will explore the harbour to try and find some of the 25,000 birds that winter here as well as the Poole Harbour Big Five!
With wintering birds already starting to arrive like the first Red-breasted Mergansers, Great Northern Divers and thousands of Avocet, they are really excited to take visitors out on the water to find these species. The White-tailed Eagles are still being seen regularly on their trips and they are  expecting lots of other birds of prey this winter including, Hen Harrier, Merlin, Marsh Harrier, Peregrine, Kestrel, Sparrowhawk and maybe even Short-eared Owl!

These three-hour cruises embrace the safari experience, scouring the harbour for hardy overwintering species from otherwise inaccessible areas such as the Wareham Channel and Frome Valley, as well as offering premier views behind the Brownsea Lagoon seawall. From bird behaviour, plumages and vocalisations, they will guide you through the species encountered, all set in the stunning harbour landscape. The exact route will be determined on the day, taking into account the state of the tide and latest sightings, to maximise the birding potential of the cruise, so no two trips will be the same!

So why not join them for a Winter Safari Cruise around one of the best sites in the UK for wintering birds!

The trip will leave promptly from the Greenslade Pleasure Boats kiosk on Poole Quay. Nearest public car park is the Quay Visitors multi-storey located at Old Orchard, Poole BH15 1SB.

Tickets from £25.00 – £28.00 adult & £14.00 – £12.50 child
