Purbeck Guitar Festival Concert with renowned classical guitarist Xuefei Yang

Something for everyone in this celebration of music from across the world, including the classics from a wide variety of genres and cultures.

About Xuefei Yang – ‘one of the 100 top classical musicians of our time’

Xuefei Yang was the first-ever guitarist in China to enter a music school, and the first internationally recognised Chinese guitarist on the world stage. When John Williams heard her play, he gifted two of his guitars to Beijing’s Central Conservatoire especially for her and other advanced students to play.

Xuefei has been named as ‘one of the 100 top classical musicians of our time’ by Classic FM. In June 2021 she was awarded a ‘Fellowship of the Royal Academy of Music’.

Xuefei is widely known for almost single-handedly bringing the classical guitar to audiences in her native country. She has performed all over the world in prestigious venues and frequently invited to play with the world’s leading orchestras. She has made a wide variety of acclaimed recordings for major labels. Gramophone magazine has described her as one of the leading innovators of her generation.

The programme will include traditional chinese pieces, European classical, American Jazz and South American pieces. See the full programme and tickets for the Xuefei Yang Concert at our events@loveitlocalmagazine.
