Martin Taylor’s concert on the 25th May at Wareham’s Priory Church of Lady St Mary, will now form part of his 2024 World Tour! In fact, Wareham is now the first date for the tour to promote Martin Taylor’s new album which is due to be released in June. The album ‘Songs for Nature’, is a collaboration with Scottish-Canadian jazz singer, Alison Burns. We are really excited to announce that Alison has just confirmed that she will also performing in the concert on the 25th May!

Martin Told ‘Love It Local magazine ‘

“Alison and I are really looking forward to performing at the Purbeck Guitar Festival. It’s very appropriate that we launch our latest album ‘Songs for Nature’ while we’re here in beautiful Dorset surrounded by such glorious countryside and coastline. My wife and I are also taking this opportunity to stay a few extra days after the festival to enjoy all that this truly magical part of England has to offer. It’s so nice to be back in Dorset.” – Martin Taylor MBE

Organiser of the festival, Malcolm Lewis, from Love It Local magazine, said that he was “absolutely thrilled” when Martin Taylor suggested that Alison Burns should come along too. “Given that Purbeck is one of the most bio-diverse places in the UK we think this is the perfect location for Martin and Alison to start the world tour for their new album inspired by the diversity of plant and animal life”.

A musical love letter to the natural world

Martin Taylor and Alison Burn’s soon to be released album ‘Songs For Nature’, is a moving, musical love letter to the beauty of the natural world and the jazz standards it has inspired.

Featuring award-winning jazz singer Alison Burns, and Grammy-nominated finger style jazz guitarist Martin Taylor MBE, the album is inspired by the diversity in nature. Marking its release on World Environment Day, on June 5th, the album promises a musical experience as lush and layered as the ecosystems it seeks to celebrate.

Alison told Love It Local magazine

“I am absolutely thrilled to be performing with Martin Taylor at the Purbeck Guitar Festival. Our new album ‘Songs for Nature’ is a love letter to nature and all other precious life that we share the planet with and I can’t think of a more perfect location here in Dorset, to connect our music with nature, wildlife and the spectacular landscape. I look forward to seeing you on 25th May.” – Alison Burns

The album is engineered by Grammy-Award winner Dave O’Donnell (John Mayer, Sheryl Crow, Kurt Elling), Cicely Balston (David Bowie, Tim Minchin, Soweto Kinch) and produced by James Taylor.

With songs ranging from Gentle Rain and Little Jazz Bird to Moon River and Nature Boy, the album will take you on a journey to explore our relationship to nature.

In these times, when every action towards environmental conservation counts, ‘Songs for Nature’ serves as “a heartfelt tribute to the beauty of the natural world and the creative souls it has influenced.” Alison and Martin hope the album emerges as a ‘beacon of hope’ amidst today’s environmental challenges and will reflect the ‘redemptive power of music’ as ‘a sanctuary of solace’
