Our team at Love It Local were lucky enough to try some of the new burgers from the Italian Kitchen Street Pizza’s new menu this weekend! Sometimes our job can be really enjoyable!
Review of the new burger menu at Street Pizza
We ordered four burgers from the street pizza menu, 2 smashed burgers, a chicken burger and a veggie burger...
The burgers were absolutely delicious, especially the new smashed burgers!
Every element of the burger was well put together and it is clear that real care has been taken to create a good balance of complimentary flavours in each burger on the menu.
The burgers are really succulent (especially the smashed burgers) with good quality fresh ingredients creating an exciting mix of contemporary flavours.
What is a smashed burger (if you don’t know yet!)
Although they may not have been around in Wareham, smashed burgers have become the growing trend for burgers in the UK since 2023.
So what are they? Smashed burgers are burgers where the meat patty, rather than being carefully shaped, is smashed onto a hot griddle. This creates a flatter, thinner and more irregular burger, which gives a more intense flavour due to the magical caramelisation that happens when meat is cooked on a searingly hot heat griddle. A smashed burger’s ingredients are also very important, from the good quality meat to the fat to lean ratio, which allows the meet to cook in its own beefy juices. This all creates the best burger you can eat (according to many burger aficionados!).
Loving it local with the smashed burgers at Street Pizza
The Italian Kitchen Street Pizza team have worked with local butchers, B Curtis to carefully create a secret recipe of the best mix of beef for their smashed burgers. Quality local meat mixed with the Italian Kitchen’s excellent flavour expertise has created a really special new burger menu.
Our review of the four of the burgers we tasted on the new Street Pizza menu…
The Mushroom, blue cheese and caramelised onion burger (we voted this the best!)
Served in a fresh bun with a real an explosion of meaty goodness from the smash burger patties. The blue cheese sauce was the perfect kick of flavour, creamy and delicious but not overwhelming with the rest of the lovely fresh ingredients which included portobello mushrooms and caramelised onion.
Street Burger
The street burger was delicious with tasty bacon and a good flavoured salsa and relish. The smashed burger was really tasty, tender and succulent.
Portobello Mushroom Burger (veggie option)
We thought this was one of the best vegetarian burgers we have tasted. We expected the typical highly processed, veggie patty but instead were presented with freshly cooked quality vegetables. The portobello mushrooms were well portioned, juicy and flavoursome. The pesto sauce was a real highlight, but again not over-powering, allowing the rest of the flavours to be enjoyed too.
Katsu Chicken Burger
The Katsu Chicken Burger was a really good quality chicken burger, succulent fresh chicken breast, with a lovely crispy coating in a soft and fluffy brioche bun. Again the katsu curry sauce was nicely balanced in flavour and did not overwhelm the rest of the delicious ingredients which included red chillies, crispy onion and fresh coriander.
Don’t forget the chips…
We loved the chips, each burger had a really good, generous portion. They were crispy, with a light fluffy interior and a good flavour.

So if you’re feeling hungry this is a fantastic place to get a top quality burger take-away in and around Wareham. We would certainly recommend trying them all!
