From Swanage to the North Pole with The Polar Express™ !

What's it like to go on THE POLAR EXPRESS™ train ride at Swanage Railway?
For the second year running. Swanage Railway is playing host to the popular Christmas themed POLAR EXPRESS™train ride experience. Having featured the trip in our magazine, we’ve heard so many positive comments about the experience, particularly from our magazine competition winners last year, who told us they had a really lovely time!
This year we were lucky enough to be invited along to experience THE POLAR EXPRESS™train ride for ourselves!
... to the magical world of Christmas with the Polar Express™ !
Despite the pouring rain, the evening was a magical experience!! From the moment we stepped onto the platform at Swanage Railway, the rain was forgotten as we were transported into the magical world of the Polar Express™ movie.
Clutching our golden train tickets whilst waiting for the train to arrive, we were kept entertained by a group of dancers, as well as by some of the favourite characters from the movie.
Entertainment and treats on the Polar Express™ train from Swanage
The Polar Express™train carriages were beautifully decorated with decorations and Christmas lights throughout.
Each carriage had a dedicated attendant to sing and entertain us throughout the trip.
Scenes from the movie were re-enacted in the carriages by the Polar Express™ characters to keep everyone entertained. Favourite characters included the the boy and girl (in their pyjamas), the conductor and the hobo. Everyone had a chance to get up close to the performers, and there was lots of interactive activities to keep the kids (young and old) entertained.
Not forgetting of course the performance of the popular ‘Hot Chocolate’ song from the movie. Plus the serving of the hot chocolate drink and rather large yummy cookie!!
Highlight of the Polar Express™ trip!
The Polar Express™ train eventually arrives at ‘Norden’ Pole (just after a stunning view of Corfe Castle). Here you can admire the special scenes and decorations of the North Pole (Norden Station), from the carriage windows. They thoughtfully provide window scrapers for the steamed up carriages! You also have to help frighten away the naughty Caribou, who are blocking the track!
The stop at the North Pole heralds the arrival of Santa onto the train, a real highlight of the trip. Everyone gets a chance to meet and greet him, young and old alike. You will also receive a very special little gift too. Just make sure you don’t have a hole in your pocket for it, especially if you’re wearing your pyjamas, (which many passengers did)!

A really magical and memorable experience to get you into the Christmas spirit. A big shout out to all the actors, who put on an excellent performance throughout the trip, bringing some real Christmas magic to Swanage!
